This device operates on the principle of condensation, which is the change of a gas from a gaseous to a liquid state, with the release of heat. The coaxial water condenser operates by exploiting the principle of heat exchange between two fluids flowing in a coaxial tube, with flows in opposite directions. This tube consists of two concentric conduits: an inner and an outer. The fluid to be cooled (e.g., the gaseous refrigerant of a refrigeration system) flows in the inner tube, while water, which acts as a coolant, flows in the annular space between the two tubes. During condensation, heat is transferred from the refrigerant to the water, causing the refrigerant to condense from a gaseous to a liquid state. This heat exchange is optimized by the large contact surface between the two fluids and the opposite flow direction, which maximizes the thermal gradient and thus heat transmission. The main advantage of a coaxial condenser lies in its compactness and heat exchange efficiency, making it ideal for applications where space is limited and high cooling capacity is required.
