MOLECULAR SIEVE WITH LIQUID AND MOISTURE INDICATOR
The function of an indicator filter is to protect the system from moisture, acids, and solid contaminants; this filter is to be installed on the liquid line. The presence of moisture, immediately indicated by the associated indicator, can cause ice formation; under normal system load and operating conditions, the refrigerant fluid must pass through the indicator in a completely liquid state. The presence of bubbles indicates partial evaporation of the fluid along the liquid line.
Construction:
All models of indicator filters have a body and head made of UNI EN 10130 – DC04 steel. The assembly of the two parts is done by MIG welding. In this type of filter, the desiccant charge consists of a single, compact block composed of 100% 3 Å molecular sieve. This cartridge is coupled to a particular type of felt that allows effective mechanical filtration combined with low resistance to fluid movement, benefiting dehydration efficiency. The presence of the indicator downstream of the filter instantly guarantees the real effectiveness of the filter. The indicator is characterized by a moisture-sensitive element whose color varies from green to yellow in the presence of moisture; in the factory, the yellow color indicates that it is time to intervene to replace the desiccant filter. The production range includes versions with SAE Flare threaded connections and copper-plated steel weld connections.
Installation:
To optimize filter performance, it is recommended to mount it with the longitudinal axis vertical and the arrow pointing downwards. The importance of filters within the system is such that it is advisable to plan scheduled maintenance to check their effectiveness and thus ensure the proper functioning of the system.
