Antifreeze valve for heat pumps. Maximum operating pressure: 10 bar. Ambient temperature range: -40 °C to +60 °C. Maximum operating temperature: 65 °C (fluid temperature). Minimum operating temperature: 0 °C (fluid temperature).
Function:
The Icma antifreeze valve is designed to protect heat pumps in case of low outdoor temperatures. It activates when the pump remains inactive for a period long enough for the heat transfer fluid to approach its freezing point and risk frost damage. This activation typically occurs during prolonged power outages, such as failures or blackouts. Under normal operation, it is highly unlikely for the fluid temperature to drop below 3 °C. In the event of a power outage, it is important to check the system pressure. The antifreeze valve drains the heat transfer fluid when the temperature drops below 3 °C, thereby preventing ice formation in the circuit and avoiding overloading sensitive components such as exchangers and pipes. When the fluid temperature rises back to 4 °C, the valve closes, restoring the system's seal. Furthermore, the nickel plating prevents corrosion caused by exposure to atmospheric agents.
