L'utilisation de tamis moléculaire pur rend le noyau solide compatible avec tous les gaz fréon et les hydrocarbures formant du fréon et permet une absorption d'humidité maximale, même à haute température, ce qui serait impossible avec l'ajout de gel de silice et d'alumine active. Le noyau solide FGR48 absorbe certaines solutions acides provenant des huiles de lubrification. Afin de faciliter l'interchangeabilité avec les principaux fabricants actuellement sur le marché, ses dimensions globales ont été respectées.
